AREAS OF PRACTICE

 
Commercial Litigation:  The Firm regularly represents clients in commercial matters involving damages in the millions of dollars.  However, we are also able to handle smaller matters cost effectively.  Large firms frequently refer their clients to us to obtain high quality representation in such matters. 

International Disputes:  The Firm frequently represents international clients.  We have represented over a dozen French citizens in various matters including securities claims against brokerage firms and a case involving a lost artwork. The Firm has also represented an Italian shipping company in a dispute concerning the enforcement of a London arbitration award, a defendant in a dispute alleging RICO claims arising from an allegedly illegal takeover of a Russian corporation, an Italian family in proceedings to recover under a will, and a British software company in an intellectual property dispute.

Appellate Practice:  The Firm has handled several appeals in both the Second Circuit Court of Appeals and New York State’s Appellate Division. 

Education Law:  The Firm has represented students in issues that have included sexual abuse and proper educational placement.  We are experts on New York State's charter school laws and serve as pro bono counsel to the Girls Preparatory Charter School of New York and the Harlem Success Charter School. 

    Employment Law:  The Firm represents both individuals and companies in employment disputes.  On the plaintiff's side, we have represented individuals asserting claims under Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family Medical Leave Act and the Sarbanes Oxley whistleblower provisions.  We have also represented the former chief auditor of a Fortune 100 company in a Sarbanes-Oxley whistle-blower claim, a CEO in an employment dispute, and securities brokers in disputes with their former employers.  In addition, the Firm has advised companies regarding the termination of employees and has negotiated and drafted termination agreements.

Real Estate Litigation:  The Firm has handled disputes involving the failure to close on real estate purchase agreements and the breach of commercial leases.

Investor Claims:  The Firm has represented numerous clients in claims against brokerage firms alleging fraud and unsuitable investments.
